Specializing in the manufacture of surgical instruments and apparatus, it became a supplier to the House of the Emperor and was named by decree in 1866 as the "sole titular supplier to the Paris Faculty of Medicine". The company's founders took part in the 1834 and 1839 industrial product exhibitions, winning a gold medal in 1849, as well as at the 1867 Universal Exhibition.

Doctor Angel Balthazar François Joseph PETHELLAZ (Lanslebourg, 1852 - Chambéry, 1934) joined the company in 1873. His career as a navy doctor took him from Toulon to Lorient and Martinique, and from 1883 to 1886 to Tonkin at the Haï Duong hospital. In 1885, he was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. In 1899, he was appointed Senior Physician for the Colonies, and as such was awarded the gold medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. An amateur photographer, his photographs were exhibited. They are now preserved in the Nicéphore Niepce museum in Châlon sur Saône. In 1908, he retired as Director of the Mont des Oiseaux retirement home for officers in Hyères. He died in 1934.
