JEAN-PIERRE PINCEMIN (1944-2005) Palisades, 1991 Acrylic on paper mounted on canvas Signed and dated lower right Countersigned, countersigned, dated and dedicated on the back Height 81 cm - Width 65 cm Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist in 1993. Jean-Pierre Pincemin (1944-2005) was one of the leading figures on the French art scene in the second half of the 20th century. Initially associated with the Supports/Surfaces movement, he soon broke away from it to develop a singular body of work, combining formal rigor and expressive freedom. Passionate about the history of art, from ancient painting to the avant-gardes, he constantly explores the possibilities of the painting, between abstraction and figuration, structure and lyricism. Palissades, dated 1991, bears witness to this period of maturity, in which the rich, dense pictorial material dialogues with a formal vocabulary inspired by the grid, landscape and architecture. With its rhythm and internal tension, this composition embodies the plastic power of an artist in constant search of renewal.
