The white enamelled circular dial with black enamelled Roman numerals for the hours, signed Richard in Lyon, is framed by Corinthian columns in turquoise-blue marble and surmounted by an eagle with outstretched wings and vases in bloom, underlined by a drapery. The pendulum is decorated with a radiating mask. The ensemble rests on a projecting plinth, adorned with a bas-relief entablature of putti and two rosettes, supported by four small gilt-bronze bell feet.
