August Bucherer founded the Bucherer wooden toy factory in Amriswil in 1919. In 1921, he patented articulated metal figurines or puppets, which were presented at the Leipzig Fair in 1922. Until 1925, these figurines sold well, particularly in the United States. This was followed by a revival of wooden toy production in 1927, including accessories for these figures. The company ran into difficulties during the Great Depression of 1929. Production ceased in 1932 and sales in 1935.
