SANDRINE GALLAIRE (BORN 1963) Rumeur chlorophyle, 2009 Galvanized welded mesh and glazed paper Height 30 cm - Width 81 cm - Depth 46 cm A multi-faceted artist, Sandrine Gallaire has been exploring the plastic arts since childhood. Trained as an architect in Paris, she has developed an approach in which space, light and matter interact to shape forms that are both fluid and dynamic. In the early 2000s, she devoted herself fully to sculpture, adopting a self-taught approach nourished by her architectural and pictorial experience. Her work is part of a quest for movement and lightness, illustrated by her "La Rumeur" series, of which our work is a part. Born of a reflection on the omnipresence of printed advertising, these sculptures in recycled glossy paper play on optical effects and the viewer's perception, linking them to kinetic art. Light and airy, they seem to float between heaven and earth, like sensitive antennae capturing the resonances of the contemporary world.
