BERNAR VENET (Born 1941)
Two indeterminate lines
Silkscreen
Numbered lower left: 27 /30
Titled and dated lower right: 1995
Two irregular edges
Height 60 cm - Width 50 cm overall

Deux lignes indéterminées (Two indeterminate lines) is part of Bernar Venet's ongoing research into line, curves and mathematical structures since the 1970s. The artist abandons traditional representation to explore forms derived from scientific language: angles, arcs, equations, "indeterminate" lines. His monumental steel sculptures, which this silkscreen print is based on, play on weight, balance and tension, while giving the impression of free movement. In this way, Venet confronts the rigor of mathematical systems
a more sensitive, intuitive perception of form.

Presented by Mr. and Mrs. Jean-Pierre CHAUSSADE.
Silk-screen printing makes it possible to convey this sculptural reflection in graphic form, while retaining the visual force and simplicity of the motif.
