1989 CITROEN 2CV 6 SPECIAL Serial number: VF7AZKA00KA299214 French registration England has its Austin Mini, Italy its Fiat 500, and we have our Citroën 2CV, the popular little city car that gave post-war towns and countryside a way to get around on a budget. A new-found slice of freedom, the 2CV was an immediate commercial success, both at home and abroad, thanks to its extremely attractive selling and user points: robustness, ease of use, reliability and habitability. In its 42 years of existence, the "deudeuche" hasn't changed much, retaining its philosophy while appealing to very different social classes: from the peasant in the remote countryside who wants a van that can be repaired without difficulty, to the elegant limited edition parked in Parisian uptowns. The "6 Spécial" version appeared in 1979 as the entry-level version of the last 2CVs, with a 602 cm³ engine more powerful than the first 2CVs. Simple, economical and sturdy, it retains the original spirit of the model: light bodywork, supple suspension and stripped-down interior. Produced until 1990, it represents one of the last "pure" 2CVs, with its characteristic square lights and canvas sunroof, embodying the French popular car par excellence. The model presented here was first registered in January 1989; the original stamps in the engine bay indicate that it is a 1988 model year, which was probably kept in dealerships for some time before finding a buyer. Sold in its current beautiful "Vallelunga red" color (code EKB), with its black soft top and inimitable fabric interior, our 2CV bears some of the marks of the past, but retains its characteristic sparkle, both aesthetically and mechanically, where costs have been made to ensure that the twin-cylinder engine responds perfectly as soon as the key is turned in the Neman. Treat yourself to a piece of our national heritage and a perfect city car in these times when cars are taking up weight and space, the perfect choice for getting around easily and in style!
