Lafargue Height: 30 cm - Width: 45 cm (visible area) Trained as an architect, Pierre Marie Arsène Lafargue (1852–1931) settled in Blois, where he pursued a distinguished career in the Loire Valley, participating in the restoration of numerous monuments and castles, including the Hôtel d’Alluye, the châteaux of Chenonceau, Valençais, and Josselin. Alongside his work as an architect, he regularly exhibited drawings and watercolors at the Salon des Artistes Français, reflecting his deep attachment to the architectural heritage and landscapes of the Blois region. This interest in showcasing the region’s beauty is also evident in his pamphlet *Ce qu’on aurait pu faire à Blois depuis cinquante ans* (1915), in which he reflects on the city’s urban planning and beautification. However, beyond this attention to detail—a trait he inherited from his profession—he also painted landscapes, paying particular attention to light and the natural atmosphere.
