ÉLISABETH OULÈS (BORN IN 1953)
Standing Figure
Plaster and polychrome statuette
Height: 28 cm

After a trip to Egypt in 1975, Elisabeth Oulès returned fascinated by the connection between site, architecture, sculpture, and the representation of the human form. The relationship of scale between the tiny figures and the colossal statues, as well as this exploration of form and space, was further confirmed during subsequent travels. “All my artistic exploration is linked to verticality and to the way of perceiving and occupying space.” “For me, poetry and color are closely linked and reflect a balance (like the balance of a tree) where form harmonizes with the space in which it exists.”

Provenance: Jean Pierre Guigo Bataillard collection; has remained in the family ever since.
