In-12 square (117 x 147 mm), long-grained green morocco, double framing of gilt fillets decorating the boards, spandrels, personalized iron in the center, ornate ribbed spine, gilt edges (period binding). [XVIII] + 246 pp. Reprint of the original 1653 edition, by Bagster ("Printed by Mercier and Chervet"). One portrait & six steel-engraved vignettes. Copy enriched with an ADDITIONAL SUITE OF SIX VIGNETTES & two plates "Madley Manor" & "Walton's residence in Fleet street". From the libraries of Leila Howard Codman, Jane Aldrich Moore & H. Walter Webb, with bookplates. Joints cracked and boards rubbed, but AN ORNATE CONTEMPORARY MOROCCO COPY. "A SO-CALLED FACSIMILE OF THE EDITION OF 1653" GIVEN BY SAMUEL BAGSTER. "The stock of this edition shared the fate of that of 1808, and was partly consumed in the fire at Bagster's." (Westwood & Satchell, 303).
