In Venetia, Appresso Francesco de Franceschi, 1584. 2 titles in one in-4° volume (177 x 256 mm), red morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, grotesquely decorated ribbed spine, gilt edges (late 17th c. binding). Text on two columns. - XX] ff + 654 pp (relay title p. 533) + [XVI] ff (table). -- I (title)] + 43 ff. - A title-frontispiece, a relay title [p. 533] (for I Cinqve Canti [...]) and 51 full-page woodcuts (one of which is a double replacing figure 34, which, having been completed later, is rarely present); vignettes, banderols, lettrines and culs-de-lampe. -- One title-frontispiece. Folios a1 to 3, k4 & l1 (40 & 41) of the Osservationi lacking. First title reinforced by laminating, some short upper margins, foxing, a few stained leaves and small accidents on the last seven. From the libraries of the Count of Sabran, with bookplate engraved by Humblot bound in-limina, and Roger Paultre with ex libris (July 6, 1993, 11). "Quite a fine edition [...]. It is sought after because of the notes that accompany it and the engravings with which it is adorned" (Brunet, I, 436).
