In-12 bradel, gray half-percaline with corners, gilt initial on front cover, spine decorated, untrimmed, back cover preserved (period binding). ORIGINAL EDITION, of which no large papers were printed. A first-issue copy with misprints, notably on pp. 15 & 25; the mention "(Les six premières)" on the false title; and the back cover with the date November 1874. This edition was printed in 2,200 copies, 480 of which were seized and destroyed by the censors. First cover not preserved. Vicaire, I, 305; Carteret, I, 110-112.
