FONTENELLE (Bernard LE BOUYER DE). Oeuvres diverses. A La Haye, Chez Gosse & Neaulme, 1728-1729. 3 volumes in-4°, calf, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, fleuron at the corners, ornate ribbed spines, gilt edges (period binding). "New enlarged edition". A title-frontispiece & five plates by PICART; numerous vignettes and culs-de-lampe. The leaf "A Lucien aux Champs Elysiens" normally bound before the "Dialogues des Morts anciens" has been bound in on p. 328 (t. I). Minor restorations to headpieces and spines; some foxing. "Superb illustrations", (Cohen, 407).
