Large in-4°, black morocco, large personalized gilt, palladium and cold decoration radiating around two superimposed copper triangles, one lacquered, decorating the first cover, smooth spine adorned with title, orange box lining, the first decorated with an original watercolor signed by Schmied, orange and silver moire endpapers, gilt edges, color illustrated cover retained, half-black morocco folder and covered slipcase (Darcey). FIRST EDITION, established "at the expense of M. M. Gonin & Cie, Bookseller-Publisher in Lausanne". Design, ornamentation and illustrations by François Louis SCHMIED, including twelve hors-texts, all wood-engraved. Edition of 195 copies on Arches vellum, all signed by Schmied, this one no. 35, containing a "suite-témoin des gravures sur bois". ATTACHED: a large original watercolor "Étude pour Eve", signed by Schmied. A fine copy in decorative binding, with an original signed watercolor ("Étude pour Eve"). First spine partially cracked; double endpaper partially detached; spine of dust jacket cracked.
