Large in-4° (305 x 235 mm), garnet-red morocco, wide geometric decoration of gilded fillets around an inserted and painted copper ornamenting the first plate, smooth spine, cream calf lining decorated with the same gilded fillet decoration, moiré silk endpapers, illustrated cover and spine preserved, untrimmed, half-garnet-red morocco flap folder, slipcase (Gonin). FIRST EDITION. Fourteen full-page woodcuts in color, including a frontispiece signed in pencil, lettering, line ends and headbands, by François-Louis SCHMIED. Printed in an edition of 170 copies on Arches vellum, this one (no. 108) signed by the artist. From the Daniel Zierer library, with bookplate.
